DARZALEX 1800 mg is a solution for injection that is administered subcutaneously and is a colorless to yellow liquid.
DARZALEX solution for subcutaneous injection is supplied in a cardboard box containing 1 single-dose glass vial.
DARZALEX is a medicine that contains daratumumab as the active ingredient. Daratumumab belongs to a group of medicines called “monoclonal antibodies.” Monoclonal antibodies are proteins designed to recognize and attach to specific targets in your body. Daratumumab is designed to attach to specific abnormal blood cells in your body, causing your immune system to destroy these cells.
DARZALEX is used in adults 18 years of age or older who have a type of cancer called multiple myeloma. This is a cancer that occurs in the bone marrow.
DARZALEX is also used in adults aged 18 years and older who have a type of blood disease called AL amyloidosis. In AL amyloidosis, abnormal blood cells create large amounts of abnormal proteins, which build up in various organs and cause these organs to malfunction.
DARZALEX 1800 mg is a medicine that contains the active substance daratumumab. It belongs to a group of medicines called “monoclonal antibodies”.
Important information about some of the excipients contained in DARZALEX subcutaneous injection solution.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per 15 mL, that is to say essentially “sodium-free”. DARZALEX subcutaneous injection solution contains sorbitol. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. If your doctor has told you that you are intolerant to some sugars or if you have been diagnosed with hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI), a rare genetic condition in which fructose cannot be broken down, talk to your doctor before giving this medicine to you.
Darzalex is not chemotherapy. This is a type of targeted therapy and is sometimes called immunotherapy. This means that Darzalex is designed to work with your immune system (your body’s defense against infection).
Darzalex is given to you as an intravenous (IV) infusion by a health care professional in your doctor’s office or a clinic. An IV infusion is an administration of fluids directly into a vein over a prescribed time.
